SELECTION PROCESS
The Selection Process was developed as the last line of defense to maintain the “Golden Mean” - the ideal balance of population to resources necessary to survive. The Selection Process is employed ONLY when the Golden Mean is out of balance. Some examples of this may include:
-
Unnaturally high birth rates
-
Low death rates
-
Extreme weather affecting food and/or water supply
-
Other natural disasters depleting our resources
When the Selection Process is implemented to thin out the population during times of imbalance, a lottery is enacted. Selection Request Letters are sent to a wide array of citizens requiring their participation. All citizens of the city-state of Anchorage are entered into the lottery. No one is exempt.
Upon receiving a Selection Request, citizens have the choice to appear and participate in the Selection Process or to leave the sanctuary of the city-state by the posted Selection Date. If the citizen opts out of the Selection Process, they revoke all rights and privileges and must exit the walls of the city with whatever property they can carry by the Selection Date. If a citizen does not respond to their Selection inquiry or leave on their own recognizance, they will be escorted outside the wall by law enforcement.
SELECTION DATE
Participation in the Selection Process IS NOT sacrificing your life to the State. Only a very small percentage of those who take part will make the ultimate sacrifice. Participants will show up to the designated Processing Center at the specified date and time. Arrangements can and will be made to shuttle participants from their homes.
At the Processing Center, citizens will fill out all pertinent paperwork and then convene in the waiting room, where they will be made as comfortable as possible. Participants may then be called in one at a time to appear before the Selection Panel.
SELECTION PANEL
The Selection Panel is a rotating group of volunteers vetted by the Secretary of Preservation. Their mission is to oversee the Selection Process, weighing the Qualitative Value Score (QVS) of participants with other determining factors. Ultimately, this collected group must narrow down the chosen individuals to determine who will make the ultimate sacrifice for the well-being/sustainability of the City/State of Anchorage.
QUALITATIVE VALUE SCORE
QVS is a numerical assessment based on multiple factors.
-
Age
-
Health
-
Education
-
Skill set
-
Years living as citizen of Anchorage
-
Criminal record
-
Offspring
A participant’s QVS is a strong determinant for the Selection Process. Citizens will always have access to their QVS and may work to improve it.
SELECTION
The Selection Panel will take all factors into consideration and narrow the Selection down to two or three participants. The Secretary of Preservation is the final voice of each Selection Process for who gets Selected.
In the unfortunate event of a Participant’s Selection, they are then awarded...
-
The opportunity to make one video call to whoever they choose
-
Selected Participants are also granted an exemption status to pass on to any citizen of their choosing from participating in future Selections.
-
Any immediate family will receive a financial stipend equal to the income of the Selected Participant for one year
-
Their name will also entered into the Hero’s Log and a plaque in their honor will be placed on the city’s Wall
